Clip On Night Sight CONS - Universal Night Sight - Boresighted

Universal Night Sight, Weapon Sighting System, Clip On Night Sight

SPI's Boresighted universal Clip-On Night Sight or CONS is the most reliable and easiest to use night vision weaponsighting system ever fielded. The CONS is a universal night sight that also incorporates gain control, which allows the user to lower the tube brightness (gain) to compensate for overly bright conditions or to increase the gain under extreme dark conditions.

Available in the cleanest Military Grade Generation 3 and 3+ US Military MX10160 image tube, the CONS offers stunning clarity, brightness and performance to satisfy all law enforcement and military needs.

The CONS is a unique night vision system that is small enough to mount in front of any boresighted daytime scope. Scope magnification can range from one to twelve power. The CONS does not require any boresighting and once mounted the daysight provides the aiming point. The CONS maintains boresight despite normal misalignments due to mount position errors and does not alter the sighting centerline (parallax is unchanged from dayscope). The CONS also contains no beam splitter or folded optics to go out of alignment.

The CONS is revolutionary when used with a high magnification fixed or variable power dayscope. The magnification is provided by the dayscope, which typically has much smaller optics than those associated with normal 4X or 6X night vision weaponsights. This means there is no loss in system gain or typical f/number loss associated with large optics. Variable magnification dayscopes can actually zoom in (up to 12X) and still retain the same gain (image brightness) with only a slight loss in resolution.

The CONS is lightweight, rugged and adaptable to almost any weapon which will accept a MIL- STD-1913 (Picatinny) rail and has shown the ability to withstand the recoil of 5.56 (223) & 7.62 (308) rifles. It has a very fast f/1.12 catadioptic lens and a 40mm output window (eyepiece).

The Boresighted Clip On Night Sight (CONS) was test fired on a Bushmaster AR15, A3,
Caliber 5.56/223 w/16" barrel. Ammo used was Black Hills .223 Remington, 52 Gr.
Match Hollow Point. Scope used was a Leupold LPS 2.5-10X 45mm variable power.

Both targets were set up side by side at 75 yards. Target number one has nine shots recorded. These
were taken through the Leupold at the 10 power setting,
during normal daylight using a tripod on a bench.

Target number two has five shots recorded. These shots were taken through the same
Leupold scope at the 10 power setting. However they were taken at night with the CONS
attached to the rail in front of the Leupold.

Both groups are similar and variations due to the shooter's capabilities.

The photographs below actual images taken during the shoot and reflect the conditions at the time.
The daylight image at the top was taken during daylight when the first target was shot. The night

Images below that were taken while target number two was being shot at low light at midnight.

Note that the image brightness or gain level of the night vision images is the same no matter what the scope magnification level is. This is due to the CONS unity magnification. All increases in magnification
are made with the Leupold which is focusing on the screen of the CONS.

In the past, night vision weapon sights required large amounts of glass to obtain higher magnifications
at the cost of system gain and system weight. Six power magnification was the highest set
magnification that was practical in the field. The CONS eliminates these obstacles.
